Meet Our Staff
Adam DiPuccio, C.C.C.-A., F.A.A.A.- Director of Audiology
I founded Advanced Hearing Group in 2004. I am originally from Cincinnati, OH and have lived in Arizona since 2001. I received my B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The University of Cincinnati in 1999 and my Masters of Audiology from The University of Cincinnati in 2001. I spent a combined two years (pre/post graduate) with the Veterans Administration Hospital before going into private practice. I am a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a board member of Marcon Hearing Instruments, and a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. My wife and I have three children. I enjoy spending my free time with my family, being outdoors, coaching football, and going to sporting events.
Gary Johnson, II, Au.D.- Doctor of Audiology
I’ve been with Advanced Hearing Group since 2007. I am originally from Connecticut and have lived in Arizona since 2007. I received my B.A. in Communication Sciences & Psychology and my Doctorate in Clinical Audiology from The University of Connecticut. During my doctorate program I took part in two externships-the first in Honolulu and the second in Scottsdale / Mesa. I was employed by Advanced Hearing Group for three years prior to purchasing the two Scottsdale offices in 2011. Currently I reside in Mesa with my beautiful wife Vikki and our two amazing children Axel and Dylan. In our free time we love to enjoy local sporting events and spend time out doors.
Cassandra Schmidt, Au.D.- Doctor of Audiology
I’ve been with Advanced Hearing Group since early 2011. I am originally from Illinois and have lived in Arizona since 2010. I completed my B.S. in Education with a focus in Special Education (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) from Illinois State University and my Doctorate in Clinical Audiology from Illinois State University. My loving husband Ken and I were recently married in 2010 and we are beginning our lives in Arizona. Ken is currently completing his residency in Orthopediac Surgery. If I’m not working, I’m watching my beloved Chicago Cubs!
Christina Gabler, Au.D.- Doctor of Audiology
Originally from northern California, Christina moved to Arizona over 15 years ago. She loves the versatility Arizona provides; from high desert with snow, to low desert with breathtaking sunsets. She has met so many great people and cultivated some amazing friendships here in the Grand Canyon State.
Christina’s path to Audiology began in childhood from her hearing impaired grandmother. Her grandmother had a cochlear implant that helped her hear after decades of profound hearing loss. Witnessing the joy that device brought her grandmother’s life was all she needed to be inspired to help others improve their quality of life through better hearing. Christina attended the University of Arizona for her Bachelor Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a Minor in Deaf Studies. After a couple years as a Speech Pathologist at a local school for special needs children, she decided to return to education for her doctorate in Audiology at A.T. Still University.
Kelly M. Lewis, Au.D.- Doctor of Audiology
I’ve been an audiologist with Advanced Hearing Group since May 2015. I grew up in the St. Louis, Missouri area and moved to Springfield, Missouri for college. I graduated with my B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2011 and with my Doctorate of Audiology in 2015, both from Missouri State University. I completed my residency at an E.N.T. clinic in Tucson, Arizona before moving to the Phoenix area. I love spending time with my husband, traveling, and practicing yoga. I look forward to visits back to Missouri to see my family and still root for the St. Louis Cardinals, but I have loved living in the desert so far and look forward to many more adventures to come!
Briana Thornton, Au.D.- Doctor of Audiology
Dr. Thornton studied her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science and Disorders from Northern Arizona University, and completed her Doctorate of Audiology at A.T. Still University. She remained close to her alma mater as an adjunct faculty there and is also a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. When it comes to audiology, Dr. Thornton has a special interest in adult and pediatric diagnostics and rehabilitation through the use of prescribed hearing devices carefully selected based on individual necessity. By working closely with her patients, she enjoys creating a plan to improve hearing that fits an individual lifestyle, as she knows that everyone has different needs and wants.
Her interests in pediatric audiology come from a background in working with children. Previously, she worked at Mesa Public Schools as the district audiologist. Now she calls the Advanced Hearing Group practice in Mesa home. As she continues a career in audiology, she hopes to continue to work with students in her field as their preceptor and develop my skills along with theirs as a knowledgeable and caring audiologist for the adult and pediatric population. She has many goals for her career which include working more with ABRs, adult and pediatric as well as cochlear implants, as well as enhancing her pediatric testing and diagnostic skills so that she can one day pass the skills on to students in the audiology program as their professor.
When not in the Mesa office, Dr. Thornton enjoys spending time at home with her husband and her two amazing children – also her greatest accomplishment. Whether making crafts or just being outdoors, time with her family is always well spent.
Are you in need of a caring, energetic audiologist who will work with you, consider your individual needs and put you first? Come on in to the Mesa location and meet Dr. Briana Thornton!
